Super Happy Forever, selected to open the Venice Days strand at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, is a bittersweet and sensitive exploration of love and loss. The film follows Sano, who, along with his childhood friend Miyata, returns to Izu, a seaside resort in Japan where he fell in love with his wife Nagi five years earlier. This marks the third feature by director Kohei Igarashi. His debut feature, Voice of Rain That Comes at Night (2008), won the Korean Critics Award. In 2017, he co-directed The Night I Swam with Damien Manivel, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and was also selected for San Sebastián.
