Where To

Assaf Machnes’s debut feature is a comedy-drama set in Berlin. Hassan, a 55-year-old Palestinian taxi driver, picks up Amir, a young Israeli newly arrived in the city and navigating a complicated relationship. What begins as a chance ride turns into a series of encounters between two people who have left everything behind and become a little lost along the way. During late-night drives through Berlin, a genuine bond develops, giving Amir a sense of home and allowing Hassan to confront his own story. The film premiered at the Berlinale and went on to win Best Film, Best Screenplay and Best Actor at the Jerusalem Film Festival. It is nominated for 11 Ophir Awards, including Best Film.
