Minotaur

Winner of the Grand Prix at the latest Cannes Film Festival, the new film by acclaimed Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev marks his return to filmmaking after nine years with an intelligent, beautifully crafted and superbly acted drama. Set in Russia in 2022, the film follows Gleb, a minor oligarch who runs a successful company and lives with his wife and son in a meticulously designed home. Summoned to an urgent meeting with the mayor, he and other prominent local figures learn that Moscow is demanding more soldiers for the front, and that anyone not essential to the local economy is expected to enlist. As pressures mount at work and at home, Gleb is determined to protect the carefully constructed world he has built for himself.
