Some films slowly creep into your heart, then move you to your very core – this is how the Cannes Film Festival described Leah Nelson’s remarkable debut feature. Sarah is a young artist who finally leaves her parents’ home and moves to a new city to start a life of her own. She lands her dream job as an illustrator at a magazine, meets a new girlfriend, and everything seems to be falling into place. But just as her new life is beginning, she is forced to return to the small town where she grew up, and to her eccentric, loving family, to care for her mother. The result is an extraordinary animated film that, with tenderness, compassion and plenty of humour, finds beauty and emotion even in the most painful moments. An impressive cast lends their voices to the film, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston and Seth Rogen.
