Program

Taiwan, France, USA, UK 2025 | 108 min | Mandarin | Subtitles: Hebrew, English

After years of absence, a single mother returns to Taipei with her two daughters and plans to open a noodle stall in the bustling night market. While the elder daughter juggles a shady convenience store job, a problematic relationship with her boss, and a particularly fraught connection with her mother, the five-year-old younger sister discovers a world of wonders in the colorful market, which becomes her playground. Shih-Ching Tsou’s sensitive and playful debut was created in close collaboration with filmmaker Sean Baker (Anora), who serves as producer, editor, and co-writer. The film premiered in Cannes’ Critics’ Week sidebar and received widespread acclaim.
