Hungarian filmmaker Ildikó Enyedi (On Body and Soul) returns with a new film centered on an ancient tree that stands as a silent witness to human lives passing by for more than a century. The story unfolds across three periods: in 1908, a young student seeks to break through the barriers of an academy closed to women; in 1972, a curious researcher conducts an experiment on plants that leads to unexpected discoveries; and in 2020, a neurologist from Hong Kong embarks on a scientific-philosophical journey with the tree itself. Enyedi weaves a dazzling cinematic tapestry in which nature becomes a leading character, raising profound questions about consciousness, belonging, and the passage of time.
